Asia stocks climb tracking Wall St rally; Nikkei hits record high, China GDP beats
Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Iron & Steel, Electricity and Cement sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.01%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Alchip Technologies Ltd (TW:3661), which rose 9.98% or 260.00 points to trade at 2,865.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Taiwan Taffeta Fabric Co Ltd (TW:1454) added 9.96% or 1.40 points to end at 15.45 and AV Tech Corp (TW:8072) was up 9.93% or 4.35 points to 48.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were United Renewable Energy Co Ltd (TW:3576), which fell 5.39% or 0.47 points to trade at 8.25 at the close. Microelectronics Technology Inc (TW:2314) declined 5.31% or 0.42 points to end at 7.49 and Jui Li Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:1512) was down 5.11% or 0.51 points to 9.47.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 0 to 0.
Shares in Microelectronics Technology Inc (TW:2314) fell to 5-year lows; falling 5.31% or 0.42 to 7.49.
Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.26% or 0.16 to $61.73 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.15% or 0.10 to hit $65.01 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.68% or 22.61 to trade at $3,336.11 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.22% to 29.98, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.33% to 0.24.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 99.40.
