Asia stocks climb tracking Wall St rally; Nikkei hits record high, China GDP beats
Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Semiconductor, Electronics and Electrical/Machinery sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.75%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Jih Lin Technology Co Ltd (TW:5285), which rose 10.00% or 5.10 points to trade at 56.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Metaage Corp (TW:6112) added 9.96% or 5.40 points to end at 59.60 and Fortune Information Systems Corp (TW:2468) was up 9.83% or 5.30 points to 59.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Microelectronics Technology Inc (TW:2314), which fell 9.94% or 1.60 points to trade at 14.50 at the close. New Asia Construction & Development Corp (TW:2516) declined 9.84% or 2.45 points to end at 22.45 and We & Win Development Co Ltd (TW:2537) was down 6.25% or 0.95 points to 14.25.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 0 to 0.
Shares in Microelectronics Technology Inc (TW:2314) fell to 5-year lows; falling 9.94% or 1.60 to 14.50. Shares in Fortune Information Systems Corp (TW:2468) rose to all time highs; gaining 9.83% or 5.30 to 59.20.
Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.07% or 0.05 to $69.60 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 0.10% or 0.07 to hit $72.99 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.52% or 15.97 to trade at $3,068.27 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.08% to 33.10, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.07% to 0.22.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.18% at 104.02.
